This page explains how to request deletion of your POP Remote account — the Android remote desktop app published on Google Play — together with the data associated with it. It also sets out exactly what is deleted, what we are required to keep, and for how long.
POP Remote is published and operated by:
Deleting your account is free, and we will not ask you to justify the request. For the wider picture of what we process and why, see our Privacy Policy.
There are three ways to delete your account:
Sign in with the same account you use in the app, type DELETE to confirm, and your account and its data are deleted immediately — no waiting on an email.
The in-app and on-page routes delete the items below immediately. The email route is actioned by a person against a documented internal procedure, within 30 days of verifying your request. Either way, the following are deleted:
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your sign-in account — your name, email address and the account identifier issued by our identity provider (Microsoft Entra External ID) | Deleted. You lose access immediately and can no longer sign in. As a safeguard against mistaken or fraudulent requests, our identity provider keeps a recoverable copy in a suspended state for up to 30 days, after which it is permanently erased. We can purge it sooner if you ask us to. |
| Your subscription entitlement record — the row that links your account to an active POP Remote plan | Deleted. (The underlying Google Play purchase record is separate — see section 4.) |
| Usage and quota telemetry — AI Task counts, feature usage and quota state held against your account | Deleted. |
| Analytics and crash records associated with your account | Deleted where they can be linked to you. Records that carry only a random per-installation identifier and no account link expire on their own schedule (analytics up to 14 months, crash reports up to 90 days). |
| Support correspondence | Deleted on request, unless we still need it to resolve an open enquiry or to defend a legal claim. |
A small amount of data survives account deletion. In each case we are either legally required to keep it, or it was never ours to delete.
| Data | Why it is kept | Retention period |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription and billing records (invoices, transaction records) | Legal obligation under Portuguese tax and accounting law. We cannot delete these on request — GDPR Article 17(3)(b) allows us to keep them. | 10 years from the end of the relevant tax year. |
| AI Task screenshots and task text (only if you used AI Tasks) | Never stored by us. Microsoft retains a copy for abuse monitoring of its AI service. | Deleted by Microsoft after up to 30 days, independently of your account. |
| Voice command audio (Premium feature only) | Never stored by us. Same Microsoft abuse-monitoring copy as above. | Up to 30 days, then deleted. |
| Your saved connections, hostnames and remote desktop passwords | Held in encrypted storage on your device only. They are never transmitted to us, so there is nothing for us to delete. | Until you delete the connection, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app. |
| Your Google Play purchase history | Held by Google as the seller of record, under Google's own terms. | Governed by Google's Privacy Policy, not by us. |
| Anonymised or aggregated statistics | Cannot be linked back to you or to any individual. | Retained indefinitely. |
If you want to stop analytics and crash reporting but keep your account, you do not need to contact us at all: open POP Remote, go to the Settings tab and turn off Share usage and crash data. The change takes effect immediately on that device.
You also have the right to access, correct, export or restrict the processing of your data. Those rights, and how to exercise them, are described in section 9 of our Privacy Policy.
We respond to deletion requests within one month, as required by the GDPR. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you may complain to the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (cnpd.pt) or to the data protection authority in your own country.
